The Landscapes app contains the 64 hexagrams from the Chinese classic The Book of Changes. Each of the 8 trigrams are represented by a musical instrument with similar characteristics to the visual nature of each trigram. The Upper-keyboard moves with the Clouds from Heaven. The Lower-keyboard moves with the patterns of the Earth. The Flute moves with the Mountains and rocks. The Oboe moves with the Water in the streams. The Violin moves with the Fires and the sun. The Bassoon moves with the Wind around the trees and wood. The Cello moves with the Lakes and pools. The Bass moves with the Thunder of lightening. Look to the side (of this description) to see a chart of these. This low-polygon landscape scrolls forward in a manner influenced by the traditional Chinese landscape symbolic perspective of nature where the energy of "the" movement is primary, and where negative space is used for sky given the constraints of the medium in conserving polygons, and hence rendering-time with the computer display as the medium. The Chaconne is of French origin with the repeated harmonic pattern allowing individual and combined variations, where the eight-bar ground sometimes overlaps, and eventually all instruments crystalize into the final unified variation.Playing Time: 2:57 at 120 eighths per minute.Soundtrack: Antonio Vivaldis Concerto in G minor for Flute, Oboe, Violin, Bassoon and Figured Bass.Catalogue Numbers: RV 107 | Fanna XII/6 | Pincherle 6/6 | Tomo 40The Music Animations for Head Tracking series of apps provide a relaxing form of interactivity where one only needs to look around. Each of the apps provide numerous viewing paths and are designed to run offline so they will give high replay value. These apps provide a view of music that should give one a deeper sense of the structure inherent to baroque music. Many of these animations were created back in the days of wire-frame graphics so they have been tested over the decades against a variety of head-trackers and head-mounted displays. Music catalogue numbers and timing info have been provided here for musicians that may enjoy playing along while immersed-in the geometric animation of the music. Please put your device in Airplane Mode before running this app. This app does not have provisions for use of the controller while running so it is not listed with other Daydream apps.
